Charity at BPS
We are proud to give children the opportunity to lead charity events, raising money for worthy causes whilst learning about the importance of helping those in need.
Year groups take opportunity to lead charity events and raise money for worthy causes. The children are creative and inspirational in their efforts and we are all extremely proud of them.
Year 6
Macmillan Coffee Morning: Each September Year 6 children organise a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. It is a wonderful opportunity for parents and friends to spend time together for a worthy cause.
Young Enterprise Fiver Challenge: Each June Year 6 children take on the world of commerce and industry to compete in our Fiver Challenge. Each child is given £5 and in small groups, create a business idea. Over the month they engage with local companies designing logos and making advert, prior to our final event, a street fair.
The children understand the importance of charity. Each year they celebrate their success by using half their profit. They donate the other half to a charity suggested and voted on by the children. In 2022, £600 was donated to Alec's Angels Children's Hospice.
Sports Challenge: Steve Frew, Gold Commonwealth Gymnastic set a sports challenge for all the children in school. The children raised an amazing amount for athletes
and para-athletes by completing their grueling fitness circuits. Well done everyone!
Comic Relief: Over the past 2 years we have raised £1075. The children have a great day, and not only raise money but learn the importance of charity.
Year 3: Autumn time provides opportunity for our Year 3 children to celebrate Harvest, performing to parents whilst collecting food and toiletry items to donate to our local foodbank. We are always touched by the generosity of our families and are proud to be helping local families in need.
Year 4: Children in Need is one of our most loved charity days and Year 4 children are proud to be responsible for selling merchandise and whipping up excitement across the school! Over the past 2 years we've raised an amazing £1100!
